Fashion Show

Our dear friend Jeanine asked the boys to be in a fashion show for a fundraising event for K2 Foundation. So she bought them a cute new outfit from the Gap and they showed up for the big event! 

Hunter had fun during the practice event. All the kids held flags for the countries that K2 goes to on their trips. Braden got to hold the Tanzanian flag which is awesome because of our time there and Samweli being there. Hunter had the Peruvian flag, which was also cool because we have a sponsored child there as well!

Halfway through practice Hunter decided that a fashion show wasn't for him and decided to plop himself down at the end of the runway and go no further. He didn't make it into the actual show but rather watched from the table with the rest of us.

We were glad Grammy and Mimi were here to go to the event with us!

 

Braden got a little shy when he walked out to a hundreds of eyes on him... but he did great!

Hunter got more involved in the celebration at the end of the show. 

It's always fun to get dressed up and go try something new!

End of the Season

The first season of t-ball has come and gone. We all enjoyed it and met some great people in the process. We were spoiled by Coach Tim as we know we won't get him next year because his son is moving up to the next level. Braden had fun and did really well. And you'll see from the video from the end of season party that Coach Tim thinks baseball is his sport!

Road Trip

I had some meetings in Bisbee, AZ so we decided to make a little road trip out of it. Road trips are still a bit of a challenge with a 3 and almost 5 year old, but they are getting easier. It's always good to get home... even Hunter said, "I love our home" when he was safely back in the playroom playing with his trains.

We stopped in Tombstone on the way. We thought it was pretty appropriate that they found tumbleweed to play with!

One of the actors from the gunfight show asked Braden about the Sheriff's deputy sticker he had on his shirt. He told him Tombstone was "no place for law dogs." Braden got a little concerned about the guy with the gun giving him a hard time and decided to take shelter behind this pole. He wasn't quite sure what to make of the guy even when we reminded him that he was just an actor. A little ice cream distracted him though.

On to Bisbee and checking out the Lavender Pit. Braden thought it was a volcano.

The kids had fun playing in the train cars from the old mining operations.

While I was at my meetings they went to a ranch that rescues horses. They had a wonderful time exploring and got to go for a little ride on the horses. They were even kind enough to bring me a bag full of owl pellets with mice bones in them from the barn owl that lives on the ranch. Wasn't that nice of them! 

Bisbee is in southeastern AZ and as you can see, is very close to the border. The "border issue" is a different reality for the folks who live here... so complicated and unfortunately so politicized. 

Even when he's not home, he still has his thumb and his bear.
