Trick or Treat!

We happily stayed in our neighborhood for trick or treat this year and we're glad friends joined us. It's a great group of kids!

 Braden's interest in girls is definitely becoming evident. :) He spent a good portion of the time at the potluck chasing either Caroline or Emmie.

SoCal 2014 - Wave Riding!

We had a great time visiting the San Diego area again this year. We stayed in the Carlsbad area this time which was new for us and we enjoyed it. We stayed for a week and had a great time! This post is dedicated to the newest form of fun for the kids' - boogey boarding!

Soooo...

Although it's not evident through the amount of activity, I do want to keep this blog going! We have fun looking back at it from when the kids were younger, so I'm assuming we'll enjoy looking back at this time in our lives, too! We've had some fun trips I need to catch up on, but here's a random assortment of pics I need to delete from my phone!

Braden is really into writing these days. He was creating a quiz about what things were flammable and what aren't. He had to stop in the middle of the grocery store parking lot to complete a thought!

The garage floor serves well as a table, too!

Going to see Charlotte's Web at Childsplay! It was wonderful. 

Checking out Christmas gift ideas. So many Legos, so many Legos. :)

We had some major rain this summer. This is the park by our house. You can see the top of the soccer goal... Barely! We love the water, but the mosquitoes are horrible. I am convinced they are straight from the devil!

Braden, and other kids, wondered if they had to go to school in the rain! We did have a late start one morning because of the rain. 

This has to be the best PK school id ever!

And it's not always about the kiddos. Thankful to walk through life with this guy. 

PreK!

Hunter is on his way to PreK! He'll start this year and go 3-days a week for half a day at SCA just like his brother. Although Hunter always refers to it in one word as SCAEagles.

Miss Stuhan will be his teacher. She did a home visit before the first day. Hunter liked her (and so did I). No, Hunter is not bigger than her! 

Hunter had homework for the first day! 

Here his is at orientation. He knows a couple of kids in his class, which is helpful. 

He's too cool for school.

This is his buddy Brady. Hopefully they won't cause too much trouble!

Kindergarten!

The week of August 4th was an exciting one in our household!

It started with Meet the Teacher night at Braden's school! He learned that Mrs. Sneed and Mrs. Wallerstein would be guiding him through his kindergarten year. We've heard great things about both teachers. 

He got to check-out his room and some of his curriculum for the year!

His school is a classical academy, so it's desks and chairs rather than pods and carpets. Mrs. Wallerstein was showing him some of the rules of the room.

And here's what he has in store for his daily routine! He also does music, art and French.

On August 5th he got his cast off!

His precious little leg had seen better days, but I'm sure that muscle mass will be back in no time! He got a boot that he'll wear for 6-weeks. 

He helped pack his lunch for the big day!

And we got his uniform all laid out and ready to go! 

And here he is all ready to go, boot and all!

We all loaded up to see him off!

He found his desk.

And they settled in and got right to work!

It's fun to get to see Toby at school!

We're very proud of our Kindergartner! 

Summer with a cast.

Braden adjusted well to life with a cast. He was such a little trooper through all of it. 

My Mom's friend Margaret sent him this fun game called Headbandz.

We got an ice cream maker and made some yummy chocolate almond butter homemade ice cream!

And there were more Lego creations built than can be counted.

We had a World Cup party.

Sausages for Germany and chimichurri salad for Argentina.

Who lets a broken leg and cast get him down? Not this guy!

Mimi sent lots of packages with lots of fun stuff to keep him busy.

And we sat had several nights where we sat outside to watch the beauty of God's creation.

Monsoon season is fun!

And then the big one came off! We had about 3 1/2 weeks in the non-weight bearing cast.

Looks pretty good to me!

And we moved into a waterproof walking cast!

Oh yeah! Pretty much back to a normal summer!

Enjoying life.

He decided to let friends sign this one. 

And they got to spend lots of time with Maddox and Finley this summer because Leah's daughter nannied for them!

We had a few awesome monsoon storms and got to spend some time in the rain.

And Braden lost his first tooth! The other bottom one is almost out, so he'll soon have the same sized space both top and bottom!

And plans for the Fall have started...
