MineZone Day!

I got to manage a really cool partnership at work with the Paradise Valley School District called MineZone. The school district came up with an innovative concept for their after school programming where they do live feed video into the classrooms around a different topic and they approached us to do one on mining. The 6-weeks of lessons were lots of fun and we finished it off with a MineZone Day at the Science Center. We got CAT to bring in a piece of equipment to sit outside at the entrance and then the kids who were in the program were invited to bring their families to teach them about what they learned. The activities included core drilling with a marble cake, blasting using salt and marshmallows, chocolate cookie mining... they even got to plate an item with real copper! And, of course, the family came along for the fun since Braden said "the Science Center is my favorite place in the whole world" (it changes on a daily basis). The other bonus is PVUSD is our school district so I love that they do cool programming and that I got to know some of the staff to be able to get the skinny on teachers and programs because school days will be here before we know it!
